Getting started

Do I need an internet connection to use VitaLog?

No. VitaLog is built offline-first — scanning documents, extracting lab values, viewing trends, and searching your records all work entirely on your device. An internet connection is only used for optional features you explicitly turn on, such as AI chat, wearable sync, or Google Drive backup.

Do I need to create a VitaLog account?

No separate VitaLog account is required. Your profile and data live locally on your device by default. If you choose to enable cloud backup, it connects directly to your own Google account — VitaLog never operates its own central server storing your health data.

What kinds of documents can I scan?

Blood, biochemistry, lipid, thyroid, diabetes, vitamin, urine, electrolyte, and hormone lab reports, prescriptions, and hospital discharge summaries are all supported, in both printed and reasonably legible handwritten form.

Privacy & security

Where is my health data actually stored?

On your device first, inside an encrypted local database protected by a 256-bit key held in your device's secure hardware storage. If you enable backup, an encrypted copy is written to a private folder in your own Google Drive — never to a third-party server operated by VitaLog.

Can VitaLog read my health data?

By default, no — everything is processed and stored on your device. If you opt into AI features, only the specific content needed to answer your question is sent to the configured AI provider for that single request; it is not retained by VitaLog as a company.

What happens if I lose my phone?

Your data remains encrypted and inaccessible without your biometric credential or PIN. If someone enters the wrong PIN five times in a row, VitaLog automatically creates a secure backup and then wipes the local decryption key.

Can I delete all my data?

Yes. A full account and data deletion option is available at any time from Settings, and it permanently removes every local record and, if configured, prompts you to remove the corresponding cloud backup as well.

AI features

Is the AI assistant a substitute for a doctor?

No. VitaLog's AI features are designed to help you understand and organize your own health information and prepare for medical appointments — they do not diagnose conditions or replace professional medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider for medical decisions.

Can I use VitaLog without AI features at all?

Yes. AI Document Processing is an independently revocable consent toggle. With it switched off, scanning and extraction still work using on-device processing only, and the AI chat and insight features are simply unavailable.

Family & devices

Can I manage records for my family?

Yes. VitaLog supports multiple fully isolated profiles, so you can maintain separate encrypted records for parents, children, or other dependents, each with its own optional cloud backup.

How do I move my records to a new phone?

If cloud backup was enabled, restoring on a new device is a guided flow using your own Google account. VitaLog also supports secure QR-code pairing to transfer records directly between two devices you control.

Still have a question?

We're happy to walk through anything specific to your situation — family setup, migrating existing records, or how a particular feature works.
